Owned and operated by the Higgins family, this is the fourth generation of Europen trained bakers - bringing a touch of Europe to Central Ontario.

Originally founded by Josef and Sigrid Krautgartner the bakery first opened in November of 1983.

The couple left a very successful bakery in Germany in order to start a new life in Canada with their children Andrea and Ines. Over the years, Sigrid's has a earned great reputation and is well known thanks to all its loyal and new customers.

Their daughter Andrea Higgins took over on July 1st, 2004. She started her training in Germany Bundesfachschule, in Hannover and Wolfenbuettel and enjoys baking to this day.

She met her husband Brian a few months after coming to Canada and now has three children. Tim, the oldest, who is already a great asset to the bakery at age 16, Patrick is starting to help out on Sundays, and Jessica will hopfully be the next future baker.
